One of the best ways to win the Devil is to know his personality and his mission. Devil is an angel who rebelled against God through pride and was cast out of heaven with other “fallen” angels before the creation of mankind. Ezekiel 28:14–18 and Isaiah 14:12–17 are the key Scripture passages that support this understanding. Thus, the first thing to know is that the Devil came before man to the earth so we can call him the Landlord ruler of the earth. 

Another sobering fact is that his main aim is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) by using pain and pleasure to make us blind, stupid, and miserable — forever. The Bible calls him “the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, the accuser of the brethren” (Revelation 12:9–10), “the ruler of this world” (John 12:31), and “the god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

He is our “adversary [who] prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Yet, in the most appalling and unwitting bondage, the whole world willingly “follows the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2). 

However, having known the personality of the Devil, it is more important to know what God says about him and how he can be defeated. 

Below are some of what the Bible says about the Devil:

1. 1 John 3:8: “The Son of God appeared to destroy the works of the devil.” 
2. Hebrews 2:14: “Christ took on human nature that through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil.”
3. Colossians 2:15: “God disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in him.” In other words, the decisive blow was struck at Calvary.
4. Revelation 20:10 says one day the warfare will be over: “The devil . . . [will be] thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone . . . and will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (See Matthew 8:29; 25:41)

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEVIL IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE

These are ways the Devil operates in the life of a believer. Some of his activities are listed below:

1. The satan plucks the word of God out of people’s hearts and chokes their faith.
2. The Devil is a murderer.
3. The Devil accuses believers in the presence of God.
4. The satan causes sicknesses and diseases in the life of Christians.
5. The Devil tempts Christians to sin against God.
6. He is a liar and the father of all liars.
7. He does signs and wonders to deceive the very elect.
8. He blinds the minds of believers.

According to Mark 3:27: “No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man.” Thus to defeat Devil you must be stronger than him by dwelling in the Lord (Psalm 91:1)

1. I soak myself and everything concerning me in the Blood of Jesus.
2. Fire of the Lord fills my mouth and makes my prayers devour the enemy as chaff in the name of Jesus.
3. Every weapon the satan is using against me be paralyzed by the power of God in Jesus name.
4. Anointing to pray and conquer the Devil falls upon me right now in the name of Jesus name.
5. Father Lord, let your light expose every work of darkness in my life in the mighty name of Jesus.
6. I takeover every area of my life where the Devil has taken over in the name of Jesus.
7. I command every evil plan of the satan against me to turn to my favour in the name of Jesus.
8. Devil the ruler of the earth hears the word of the Lord, from henceforth I will rule over you in the name of Jesus.
9. I take back whatever the enemy has stolen from me in the name of Jesus.

34. Every concluded plan of the devil over my life and household, be frustrated by fire in the name of Jesus.
35. Yoke of the devil over my life, be lifted off by the fire of God in the name of Jesus. 
36. I command every mountain of impossibility planted by the devil in my life to be surmounted by the power of God in the name of Jesus. 
37. Evil alarm of the devil alerting my enemies of my breakthrough be smashed to pieces in the name of Jesus. 
38. According to the word of God, I overcome the devil by the blood of Jesus and by my testimonies in the name of Jesus.
39. I seal all my prayer points with the blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Ghost in the name of Jesus.
