How Can A Christian Become A Prayer Warrior

INTRODUCTION

To define or describe a warrior, the person must have been trained to handle counter attacks from the other warriors of the enemy nation. The person must be bold and not timid, not fearful to handle guns or explosives and the person is aggressively trained to handle any situation. The person is trained in skillful fighting and strategic thinking as well so that he won’t be a prey to the enemy. Looking at the definition of a warrior, we can then say that a Christian warrior is a person who has strong affinity for and gifting in prayer. Though all Christian have been encouraged to pray daily but to be a prayer warrior, you need to take more extra and necessary steps too. It doesn’t come cheap or naturally. Paul encouraged the Ephesians that the world is not a funfair but a place for war against all sorts and they needed to be alert, firm and grounded in order to win the battles of life and not be overwhelmed by it. Paul even enlisted all the weapons of wars that the Ephesians needed to be a successful prayer warrior and champion. 

A prayer warrior must seek to glorify God in whole worship daily and that when you begin a deep intimate relationship with God to equip you with authority to win during battle. God must always be the center focus of a prayer warrior because it is through recognizing the greatness and mercy of God that will enable a Christian to prevail. To be a prayer warrior, you must have the quality of accepting and meeting people the way they are, be compassionate and show empathy where necessary, determined to repeatedly always lift requests and help to bring God’s will for others. You need to study the scriptures and know where to always apply them. As a prayer warrior, one must learn when to listen to the Holy Spirit and have a spirit of discernment too. There are steps Christians can take to become a prayer warrior and, in this article, some of the steps will be discussed.

1. GREAT HUNGER FOR GOD: Jeremiah 33:3

To become a prayer warrior, you need to have a great taste and hunger for God. You must develop a quality time to learn at the feet of God. Searching the scripture daily to know hidden truth and knowledge about God. Have a good knowledge of scriptures to use in all situations and aspects of life. After all this, you will see that you begin to pray with experience gotten from the Holy Spirit and becoming a terror to the kingdom of darkness.

2. DESIRE TO BE INSTRUMENT FOR GOD’S USE: Colossians 4:2

Devoting yourself to praying without ceasing and having a great desire to be an instrument to be used by God is another step to becoming a prayer warrior. The more you pray, the more you grow in praying effectively and praying the will of the Holy Spirit to existence. Cultivating the love for praying and being eager to be used for God’s purpose and instrument to populate God’s kingdom will also help you to become a prayer warrior. As a Christians, you don’t have to know everything, just have a stirring in your spirit to follow the call of God.

3. LEARN TO RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT: Romans 8:26

To become a prayer warrior as a Christian, you must learn to seek more of God’s Holy Spirit. Sometimes, even seasoned Christians have challenges in what to pray about but with the help of the Holy Spirit, they were guided on what and how to pray. As a prayer warrior, you must learn to rely on the Holy spirit to lead you on when you are praying. Even when you have programs lined up on how to go about it, still use wisdom to involve the Holy Spirit to join you and take control.

4. LEARN TO DEPEND ON GOD’S STRENGTH AND PERSEVERANCE: Philippians 4:13

To be a prayer warrior, you must learn to depend on God and acknowledge Him as the source of our ability and the giver of energy to do the work. We shouldn’t rely on our strength to see us through. God calls us to see prayer as a powerful tool which is a way to relate with our Heavenly Father, a way to express our need for Him, a way to show the Lord devotion and trust, and as a tangible way to support others. A prayer warrior must be ready to learn how to use prayer as an effective weapon in spiritual warfare and not be tired of patiently waiting in God until answers to prayers are obtained.

5. HAVE GREAT CONCERN FOR OTHERS: 1 John 4:7

To become a prayer warrior as a Christian, you must develop great concern and feelings for others. Praying for others is motivated when there is deep love and affection for people. True prayer warriors approach every request with care and respect, they see value in lifting needs whether the person is known or not. 

6. CONDITION YOURSELF TO BE GREAT AT ALL TIMES

As a Christian, to become a prayer warrior, you must do your best to stay in good condition, be it physical, spiritual, mental and emotional. Prayer warriors, like soldiers, should in order to be optimally effective when fighting.

7. BE CERTAIN OF YOUR AUTHORITY IN PRAYER

To become a prayer warrior as Christian, remember Jesus has given you authority to pray in His name and to know that He will answer your prayers according to God’s will and at the right time. Be confident that you can pray to usher God’s power into any situation. Don’t be timid when you are timing or doubtful but exercise your authority when you are praying.

Putting on the spiritual armor that the Bible mentions can help you engage in spiritual warfare, and they entail what is needed to be an effective prayer warrior. Keep praying and relying on the Holy Spirit working through you until you see breakthroughs happen and God’s will be accomplished in the situations about which the Spirit led you to pray.
