45 Prayers To Break Ancestral And Generational Curses

Introduction

Ancestral and generational curses are very real and in operation today, most especially in Africa and indeed Nigeria. We shall be looking at how to break ancestral and generational curses and be totally free from them.

Ancestral and generational curses are a result of the evil and abominable acts committed by our forefathers, some intentionally and others ignorantly. In the ancient times in Africa, one of the ways to know a strong man is the ability of the man to exercise fetish powers and conjure spirits for action for many things. These powers and spirits are conjured based on exchange or sacrifices that involve a lot of things and in some cases human sacrifice. Most of these ancestors went as far as mortgaging the future of their generations yet unborn in order to secure power and fame. Some others made promises that exceeded them and promised that their generations will serve these god’s and sacrifice to them till the end of time. Most of these promises are no longer being fulfilled as the knowledge of Christ has taken over the life of most of these generations and the gods and the devil is angry and is now using this to hold the children of God at random, accusing them before the Lord God, because he is the accuser of the brethren.

Ancestral and generational curses can be broken and the people of God set free but that is only by the word and power of God. How then do one break ancestral and generational curses?

First, one must be born again and remain so. Salvation is the first step for any believer to access the blessings of God and be totally free from the power of darkness. 2corinthians 5:17, says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”. So salvation makes all things new including your foundation. For there is no other foundation that exists for a new creature in Christ Jesus except the foundation which is found by Christ Jesus. When you are born again, you have denounced the devil and all the evil works of the ancestors.

Secondly, one must confess his sins and be committed to serving God in truth and in Spirit. One must come to God with a remorseful heart and confess his sins and those of his ancestors and vow not to return to serving the gods that his forefathers served. When this is done, he obtains forgiveness from the Father of mercy and is cleansed from every generational sin that is robbing him. In 1john 1:9, we are told that, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ ‘. Confessing our sins and making it right with God makes it difficult for the accuser of the brethren to accuse us before God.

Thirdly, one must go to God in prayer to break the ancestral and generational curses. This is the part where the secret place plays a very important and crucial role. One must come to the Father in prayer and seek help to break the curses, for it is by the power of God that the curses can be broken. In Zechariah 4:6, the word says, “Then he answered and spoke unto me saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of host”. The power of God and the blood of Jesus Christ is the only ransom that can break that generational curse. One must also let the word dwell in his heart. Declaring the word of God and abiding in it in faith is what breaks that curse. The word of God is yes and amen, and it is able to break and deliver us from all generational and ancestral curses of life. In Numbers 14:17-20, it says, “And now I beseech thee let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou has spoken, saying, The Lord is long-suffering and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgressions, and by no means clearing the guilty visiting the iniquity of the father’s upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word”. Declaring what the word says is what guarantees freedom for ancestral curses. For God is committed to His word and will make it happen for anyone who genuinely and sincerely calls on Him with the word.
