INTRODUCTION

Being a believer does not exempt us from some of the sufferings in this world; this includes chronic pain.  Chronic pain is a pain that one suffers from for long periods of time. However, the word of God in Isaiah assures us of the continued presence of God with us regardless of whether we are passing through the fire or through the waters. Pain of any type is not part of our redemption package. It is the Devil that introduced sickness into the world. Jesus Christ our Lord likewise prepared our minds for tribulations in the world, but ended it by saying He will be with us, and He has overcome the world for us.

In 3 John 2, the Bible assures of God’s will for our lives, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” God wants His children to be healthy and free from every pain. He delights in our wholesomeness. Therefore, anyone experiencing chronic pain is supposed to chase away such from his life by praying fervently. In as much as our body is the temple of God, any sickness or pain is a stranger in it, and should not be accommodated. It should be given quit notice on the altar of prayer.
