40 Prayers Before You Sleep

Introduction

Today, we will look at prayer points before one sleeps. Sleep is a natural phenomenon that occurs to every human. It is a way of resting and relaxing the nerves after a hectic day. In the spiritual realm, sleeping has a lot to do and say for every Christian. When an individual is asleep, he is in-between the physical and the spiritual. He doesn’t know what is happening in the physical realm and most times doesn’t know what goes on in the spiritual realm as well, unless it is revealed to him in a dream while sleeping.

Sleeping is a point where the devil and his agents perpetrate a lot of evil against mankind, therefore it is pertinent that Christians ought to pray before going to sleep. The devil can capitalise on the porous nature of a believer who doesn’t pray at night and attack him with various weapons. Different kinds of attacks can be carried out in the sleep and their effects are very devastating. In Matthew 13:25, the Bible says, “While men slept, his enemies came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” This shows us that while we sleep the devil is moving about looking for who to devour and when he is done, he goes his own way and leaves the victim to suffer and often die in it. God has made great provision for our destiny, but the devil keeps sowing tares in that great destiny, and most of them are done during our sleep.

God has already made provision for us to always have a sound sleep, He is the one that sustains us while asleep and keeps us safely from the evil one. According to Proverbs 3:24, God said we shouldn’t be afraid when we sleep, because He has promised to make our sleep sweet. This is because He is the one that giveth His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). In Jeremiah 31:26, it says, “upon this I awaked, and behold; and my sleep was sweet unto me” this is God’s promise to all of us, His children. In Psalm 121:2-4, “He will not suffer thy foot to be moved, he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” This means that our God denies himself sleep to watch over us while we sleep soundly and in safety. He is ever committed to seeing us safe even in our sleep, making sure that the devil does not sow tares in our lives and destiny.

As much as God is committed to seeing us have a sweet and sound sleep, we also have a part to play by taking the responsibility of praying to him before we go to sleep. God has commanded us to pray always. In Proverbs 6:20,22; “My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee” adhering to the instruction of praying before sleep commits God to keep you from every tear the enemy might want to sow in your life when you are asleep. Psalm 91:1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” What qualifies us to be under the shadow of God where the perils of the devil can’t come close is dwelling in the secret place of prayer before sleep. We must adhere to this instruction in order for us to be covered in our sleep.

1. Father, thank you for the gift of life and for all that you have blessed me with all these years, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, thank you for your loving kindness and compassion over my life all these years, in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, thank you for your protection and guidance over my life and for keeping me from the eye of the wicked all these years, in the name of Jesus.
4. Father, I thank you for seeing me through all my activities for today and for keeping me safe all through the day, in the name of Jesus.
5. Father, I thank you for granting me favour in all my endeavours today, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father, I come to you with a remorseful heart and I plead for pardon for all my shortcomings during the day, in the name of Jesus.
7. Father, I ask that you will guide and keep me as I go to sleep tonight, in the name of Jesus.
8. Father, let the angels guide and keep me from every form of harm and danger as I sleep tonight, in the name of Jesus.
9. Father, shield me from the evil eyes of the night looking for whom to prey on, in the name of Jesus.
10. Father, by the blood of Jesus, I cover myself from every evil spirit sent to attack me tonight, in the name of Jesus.
11. Father, by the blood of Jesus, I scatter every evil meeting scheduled because of me tonight, in the name of Jesus.
12. Father, by the blood of Jesus, I come against every dream caterer coming to feed me with evil food tonight in my sleep, in the name of Jesus.
13. Father, by your power, my spirit man will not answer to any call by the devil and his agents in my sleep, in the name of Jesus.
14. Father, let every witchcraft coven calling out to me this night be consumed by fire, in the name of Jesus.
15. Father, by the blood of Jesus, I conquer every attack of the enemy tonight, in the name of Jesus.
16. Father, let every agent of darkness sent to monitor me tonight be roasted by fire, in the name of Jesus.
17. Father, I come against every arrow of the wicked tonight and I send it back to the sender, in the name of Jesus.
18. Father, by the blood, I will not be a victim of the pestilence that walks in darkness as I sleep tonight, in the name of Jesus.
19. Father, by your power, I shall not be afraid of the terror of the night as I sleep tonight, in the name of Jesus.
20. Father, you are my refuge and fortress as I sleep tonight, in the name of Jesus.
21. Father, I put all my trust and confidence in you as I sleep tonight, in the name of Jesus.
22. Father, as I sleep now, shields and delivers me from every snare of the Fowler, in the name of Jesus.
23. Father, let the angels protect me from every noisome pestilence of the night, in the name of Jesus.
