Introduction

Today, we shall be looking at prayer points to cancel evil counsel in our lives. A counsel can be defined as advice given as a result of consultation. When we seem not to know what to do about a particular situation and we seek advice from others, like our friends or confidants. Evil counsel is when the advice given to us by these people are not good or bad and can cause more harm than good. It can also lead us to do evil.

One of the ways the devil is having a filled day on the earth today is through evil counsel and counsellors. It is one of his evil agenda and he is using it very well, because most of the children of God have left the right place to get counsel and have followed the way of the world. Seeking advice and help in the hands of men whom the devil have either empowered or manipulated to give the wrong advice.  Evil counsel thrives everywhere today and will continue to thrive if we do not go back to the place where we can find the right counsel. 

Evil counsel has caused a lot of people to make serious mistakes in life, most destinies have been derailed and successful lives have hit the rock because men sought after the counsel of men and the devil polluted their mind to give the wrong counsel, and destinies were destroyed. Most times we seek advice from friends and colleagues who are envious of our success in life and they see it as an avenue to plot our destruction. May God hide us from the evil counsel of our evil friends. We saw how the evil counsel of a friend destroyed the glorious destiny of Absalom and he paid for it with his prince hood and life. We also saw how king Rehoboam forsook the counsels of the Elders that have been with his father and took the counsel of those that grew up with him and that singular act ended his reign in Israel. The list goes on and on.

God our Father knew from the beginning that the heart of man is corrupt and envious, that is why he provided us he Holy Spirit to be our counsellor. The bible says in Romans 15:4, “For whatsoever things were written a foretime were written for our learning, that we through the comfort of scriptures might have hope” everything that is written in scriptures is meant to teach us and show us the way to forward. Nobody who sought after God’s counsel in the bible made mistakes. God was always directing such individual and showing him the way to go. We saw that in Abraham, Isaac, David and Jacob. They always hit the rock when they chose to take their own counsel, but when they leaned on God, it was a smooth ride.

Our best counsellor as believers is the Holy Spirit, there is nothing we need, no advice that the Holy spirit can’t provide for us. He is the one that shows us things to come and reminds us of things to do. The Holy spirit is a perfect person of a good counsellor and any believer who receives the Holy spirit and His counsel is set on high. We must seek the Holy Spirit to counsel us and show us the way of life and our glorious destiny may be fulfilled. 

I have outlined prayer points below to help destroy the work of evil counsel in our lives and also ask the Holy Spirit to come and dwell in us so that we might grow in His counsel.

1. Father, thank you for the gift of life and for upholding me all these years, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, I thank you for your love and care and for seeing me through till this day, in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, I thank you for your protection and guidance over my life and for shielding me from all evil counsellors, in the name of Jesus.
4. Father, I pray for forgiveness for all my sins and plead for pardon and for grace, in the name of Jesus.
5. Father, I plead the blood of Jesus upon every sin that would not let my prayers come up to you and be answered, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father, I stretch forth my hand to you today for help against every evil counsel against my life and destiny, let it be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.
