PRAYER FOR THE NATION OF NIGERIA

1 TIMOTHY 1:1-2 – I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

JOB 12:-25 – He makes nations great, and destroys them; he enlarges nations, and disperses them.

Nigeria is bedeviled by uncountable problems that seem to increase every moment. We have battled with the problems for over 50 years now and many people believe Nigeria’s problems can never be solved no matter who the president is and no matter the number of years the president has to stay in office. 

The wave of secularism and irrational hate for religion is sweeping through Nigeria. Millions of young Nigerians are angry with pastors, the church, religion, and politicians.

 Anytime a call to pray for Nigeria is made, these young, angry, Nigerian secularists are quick to say that praying for Nigeria is a fruitless effort, since, according to them, the prayers we have been praying for Nigeria for decades have not changed Nigeria. 

But if despite all the prayers, Nigeria is still as worst as this, what makes these angry, young people think Nigeria would then be better without prayers?  This is one way these people get it wrong completely. They may not know this or be prepared to acknowledge it, but it’s prayers that have kept Nigeria for this long. 

Predictions of war and anarchy in Nigeria have been made several times. But the predictions didn’t come to pass. In the build up to the 2015 elections, many Western scholars and social scientists predicted that Nigeria would break up. According to them, there would be no more Nigeria after the 2015 elections or before the elections. It’s now 5 years since the predictions have been made and Nigeria is still a country that can be found on the map. Nigeria hasn’t broken up. It’s prayer that has kept Nigeria for this long. And it’s prayers that will keep Nigeria forever. 

When you say: “pray for Nigeria,” angry secularists and closeted atheists on social media will take you to the woodshed because for them, that’s wrong. But these are the same set of people who curse Nigerian politicians. Do they even know that even a curse is a negative prayer? 

That aside, our position is that prayers, work, and change in attitude and way of thinking are what will change Nigeria. In the art of nation building, prayer will always be as relevant as good policies, effective and patriotic political leadership, and change in our attitude as Nigerians. 

It’s never wrong or a waste of time to pray for Nigeria. Let’s always pray for Nigeria the same way we pray for ourselves. Nigeria is our Jerusalem, and as Psalm 122:6 says, “Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper.” 

Prayer For The Nation Of  Nigeria

1. Father in the name of Jesus, arise and defend the oppressed in the name of Jesus
2. Father in the name of Jesus, by your mercy release your vengeance against every enemies of Nigeria
3. Father in the name of Jesus let every wickedness of the wicked against Nigeria come to an end in Jesus name
4. Father in the name of Jesus we decree supernatural turnaround in Nigeria.
5. Father in the name of Jesus let your peace reign in Nigeria
6. Father in the name of Jesus, we bind the work of every foreign leaders or terrorists who seek to bring harm to Nigeria.
7. Father in the name of Jesus, let your glory fill Nigeria.
8. Father in the name of Jesus, we uproot every evil and corrupt leaders from their seats.
9. Father by your mercy prosper our economy, families and relationships with other countries in Jesus name.
10. Father in the name of Jesus, we pray for our leaders to walk and work in humility and integrity.
11. Father in the name of Jesus, no evil will take away our faith as a nation.
12. Father in the name of Jesus, we pray that you remember our land and redeem it from all manner of destruction.
13. Father in the name of Jesus, let your healing power begin to operate upon our land.
14. Father in the name of Jesus, let all forces of darkness working against this nation be nullified.
15. Father in the name of Jesus, lay your hands of power upon all our leaders in this country and consume every evil operating in their lives.
16. Father, come and reign in every department of this nation in Jesus name.
17. Father in the name of Jesus, I come against every lawlessness and immorality in this nation.
18. Father as a nation we appeal to you in Jesus name.
19. Father we pray that your will be done in Nigeria in Jesus mighty name.
20. Father in the name of Jesus, arise in your might and have mercy upon Nigeria.
21. Father in Jesus name, let new things, new blessings spring forth in Nigeria.
22. Father, let there be a new season of blessings and love in Nigeria in Jesus name.
23. Father in the name of Jesus, arise and show yourself mighty in the affairs of this nation. 
24. Father in the name of Jesus, I command, let there be revival in our land. 
25. Father in the name of Jesus let the blood of Jesus flow and cleanse our land from every form of pollution and corruption in Jesus name
26. Father we plead the blood of Jesus over every states in Nigeria in Jesus name
27. Father let the agenda, plans, vices of the enemy over our nation be frustrated in Jesus name.
28. Father in the name of Jesus, give us selfless leaders, men and women of wisdom and understanding to govern this nation.
29. Father, Nigeria is in your hands, we will not fight any war in Jesus name.
30. Father, we cry unto you for help, oh Lord help us as a nation in Jesus name.
31. Father, remove and unseat every leader and men of authority that you did not put in any position in Nigeria.
32. Father, open our hearts and minds that we may come to know you in Jesus name.
33. Father, cause your love to reign in the hearts of men in our nation in Jesus name.
34. Father, grant us the ability to walk and dwell in love towards all men in Jesus name.
35. Father, we ask for your healing upon Nigeria in Jesus name.
36. Father, arise and terminate every counsel of the ungodly in Nigeria.
37. Father, arise and silence every power attacking your glory in Nigeria in Jesus name.
38. Father in the name of Jesus, fight any battle raging against Nigeria in the name of Jesus.
39. Father in Jesus name, let Nigeria be renewed in your strength.
40. Father let Nigeria experience rest this season in Jesus name.
41. Father, deliver Nigeria from all act of terrorism and violence.
42. Father, expose all forms of corruption in our nation in Jesus name.
43. Father in the name of Jesus we decree order and stability from henceforth in Nigeria.
44. Father, forgive us our sins as a nation in Jesus name.
45. Father, dismantle every citadel of darkness in this country in Jesus name.
46. Father let your righteousness reign in every part of this nation in Jesus name.
47. Father, let Nigeria be great again in Jesus name.
48. Father Nigeria receives total speed now in Jesus name.
49. Father your word will prevail in Nigeria in Jesus name.
50. Father, we pray for the total recovery of every lost blessing in Nigeria in Jesus’ name.
