What Is Prayer?

Prayer is the act of communicating and communing with our heavenly. Prayer is a way of fellowshipping with God. One of the most powerful ways we hold and maintain our relationship with God is through our prayer life. Our arch enemy, the devil knows very well the powerful secrets behind prayer hence the devil is always waging war and fighting against the prayer life of all Christian to make them prayer less and hereby rendering them powerless and defenseless against all attacks of the enemy.  As Christians we should always pray so we can pull down all strongman and strongholds militating against our lives and destiny.

Types of Prayer.

  1. Prayer of Thanksgiving: This is one of the most important prayer a Christian can pray. One important thing we are expected to do as Christian is to always worship and thank God. One of the ways we can show our gratitude to God is by praying the prayer of Thanksgiving.

Psalm 148:13

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens” 

  1. Prayer of Petitions and Supplication: This is a prayer of placing our request and heart desires before God for His divine intervention. It is through the prayer of Petitions and Supplication we are able to pour our hearts at the feet of Jesus Christ and He answers.

1 John 5:15

And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

  1. Prayer of Intercession: This also is a very powerful prayer which God cherish very well. This is a prayer prayed for someone by another person or the church of God. This is a prayer prayed on behalf of someone in distress or in one situation or the other for God to intervene. 

1 Timothy 2:1

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.

  1. Prayer of Warfare: This is a very powerful prayer prayed to wage war and fight against all demonic forces and demons. It is a prayer prayed to pull down all demonic altars and powers and endure our victory and breakthrough. It is prayer prayed by someone who is under a spiritual attack to break loose and be victorious.

This is a powerful prayer used in moving the hand of God to intervene powerfully and mightily in our situations. As Christians we are expected to fulfill our vows to God.

Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the lord.

1 Samuel 1:11

And she made this vow: “O  lord of Heaven’s Armies, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the lord, his hair will never be cut.”
