Introduction
Setback can be defined as a reversal of one’s progress and success in life. It is to slow the progress of a man in life, business, marital settlement and lots more. We are looking at issues of setbacks in business and how to overcome it in life, especially for a believer. It is the will of God that man should be fully engaged with the affairs of his life and also fend for himself and his family through the grace available to him, the man must work or do business in order to provide for his household. That is why the bible says that “if any man can not provide for his household, he has denied the faith and he is worse than an infidel”. 1 Timothy 5:8. So it is appointed unto man to work to meet the needs of his family, this is the will of God. God did not just plan that a man should work but that he should prosper in his work also. Psalm 1:3 says “ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that brings forth his fruits in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” God’s will is not just to work but also that man may prosper in whatever he has chosen to do.
The devil and his agents know this very much, but they are set out to make sure it never happens, that is why they set up all kinds of obstacles and hindrances on the path of the children of God to cause setbacks for them. Setback in business is just one of such setbacks and they do it primarily to prevent man from providing for his household. They know that the inability of a man to adequately provide for his household leads to disrespect among the couples, children and even separation and divorce, so this setback is a weapon to scatter the family which God has instituted.
God has already made the path of the just a shining light, so we keep shining till the perfect day in our businesses and other aspects of life, despite all the gimmicks of the devil. We must also remember that no matter how strong we are, without the armor of God shielding and guiding us, we will fall to the setback of the devil. We must take cover in God and we will see how our businesses will be kept away from the eye of the devil and his cohorts.
