INTRODUCTION

After the fall of Adam and Eve at the garden of Eden. Man lost personal relationship and fellowship with God. God began to use some certain men as prophets to communicate his desires and plans for mankind. With all this, men were still far away from their creator and Satan the fallen angel began to gain much ground on Earth thereby reducing the reason why God created man. Sin began to abound and most thoughts of an ordinary man were thought of evil. Man no longer referenced God and began to build small idols to worship. God had to step in to redeem man from physical and eternal destruction which was bound to happen if man continued this way because of the love he had for his creatures. A new plan to redeem man back to his creator, God, started, and God had to look inwardly to see the best man for the plan. He had to find someone who would execute the plans thoroughly and perfectly. A call was made in heaven on who will go to redeem man from destruction and Jesus Christ the son of God made himself available for mankind.

Jesus Christ had to be born in the supernatural way to avoid the sin inherited from the fall of man for the plans to work effectively. A virgin was sought for and Mary was found worthy to birth Jesus Christ. Mary was bestowed to Joseph at that time, but she was found to be with child after the angel appeared to her and told her about the prophecy. So, Mary and Joseph became the earthly parents of Jesus Christ, our Lord. At the age of twelve, Jesus Christ accompanied his parents and a large group of their relatives and friends to Jerusalem to observe the feast of the Passover, he went missing and was found in the temple teaching and asking questions from the teachers of the temple after three days of looking for him. He grew up to learn his father’s occupation which was carpentry. At the age of thirty, he began his ministry which was reconciliation of the lost souls of mankind back to God. He was first Baptized by John the Baptist; the forerunner of Jesus Christ and it was he who first introduced Jesus Christ to the world. 

After the Baptism, he began to preach the word of God fully and many began to follow him and from them, he was able to pick 12 disciples to work with him so that after his death, the work he started will continue to grow. Jesus Christ grew up as a balance being which we are expected to emulate as Christians. His works were always accompanied with signs and wonders while on earth, he promoted the teachings and word of God too. After his death on the cross of Calvary which was the initial plan, the veil was removed, and man can now have direct access to God which promotes the personal and direct relationship we as Christians enjoy today. Jesus began the middleman to connect man back to his creator, physical and eternal destruction were now removed for those who trust in him and accept him as their Lord and Saviour. Jesus led a balanced life and lessons we can use in our Christian race and in this article, we will be discussing some vital biblical lessons from the story of Jesus Christ.

• LOVE FOR GOD: Matthew 36-38

Jesus Christ demonstrated the love he had for God; he came to earth to showcase the love of God. All his teaching and ways of life were all about God. He always finds time to communicate with God no matter the crowd that follows him daily. He never does anything contrary to the plans of God. Loving God was the first and greatest commandment he taught while on earth. As Christians, we are expected to love God with all our beings, the love for God should come first in everything we do because if we love God, we will fear him and do his biddings. If we love God with all that we have, then everything else falls into place. When we love other things or people more than God, it sets us up for trouble. Don’t love anyone or anything more than you love God.

• LOVE OTHER PEOPLE: Matthew 22:39

Before Jesus came to earth, man thought towards fellow man were thoughts of evil and so when Jesus came, he taught the people that the second greatest commandment is to love others as ourselves. We as Christians, we are to love others by putting them before ourselves which is a difficult thing to do concerning our selfish nature, but it is important to do it. Jesus taught us a lesson to even love our enemies by praying for his persecutors even while he was on the cross. We are to emulate this as Christians to live a balanced Christian life. Jesus grew up in favour with man, this implies that we must be active socially, this helps to relate to people and help in winning souls for Christ. We should learn to forgive people that offend us too, as we are loving people, we should be compassionate towards them too.

• HEALTHY SPIRITUAL LIFE: Matthew 6:33; 2 Timothy 2:15; Joshua 1:8

Jesus grew up with favour with God, a day never passed by him without him communicating to his father. God is our heavenly father, and we must cultivate the habit of speaking to him every day no matter the place or where we are. As Christians, we should never do things or take actions without praying about it, and learn to seek God’s face in all decisions that matter in your life. Doing this helps one to have a healthy spiritual life just as Jesus Christ did. When you seek God in all we do and the things of God, all other things we need for life will be supplied to you also. Studying and teaching the word of God just like Jesus did also help to have a healthy spiritual life.

• QUENCH ALL LOVE FOR MONEY: Mathew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:10

Money in itself is not evil, but the love of money will always lead to trouble. Jesus understood the power money could have over the human heart. Jesus already gave us the first and greatest command which is to love God first, so as Christians, if we love money first, it becomes a god on the throne of our heart which leads to idolatry. We are to guard ourselves from the love of money just as Jesus Christ did and this will make us do many good things with it. Control your money as Christians, don’t allow money to control you.

• HUMILITY: Matthew 23:11-12

Jesus was seen washing the feet of his disciples and he told them that spiritual greatness is achieved when we serve people with humility. We should not allow pride in our life as Christians. Even though Jesus Christ was the son of God, he was able to serve his disciple with humility. He taught his disciples humility, and we are to learn from that as we grow in our Christian journey. We must do things with simplicity and gentleness of heart. We should not be men-pleasers or involved in eye-service as Christians.

• BE A GOOD AMBASSADOR OF GOD: 1 Peter 2:9; Matthew 28:19-20; John 14:12

Jesus came as an ambassador for God, and he faithfully fulfilled the mandate on his life. He never lived carelessly or allowed anything to come between him and the purpose of his existence. This shows that as Christians, we have been bought with a price which is the precious blood of Jesus, and we were expected to be a good ambassador on earth to continue the work of Jesus which he commanded us. We shouldn’t allow anything to come between this mandate given to us by God as Christians, we are to populate the kingdom of God at all costs. We shouldn’t allow the acres of the world to become more of a priority for us than winning the lost souls for God. We should set our treasures in heaven where the moth will not destroy them. Live a fulfilled life in God.

CONCLUSION

There are many lessons to learn from the story of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ. The knowledge of the Christian walk can only be understood and practiced by walking the path Jesus Christ did. If we walk with and for God, we as Christians, will experience the insights of what the Lord is telling us in His words that are recorded in the bible. We will learn of the real truth, and we start to understand wisdom and being guided by the spirit. In the long run, eternal bliss with God is guaranteed once we adhere to the lessons of Jesus Christ.
