Setback and delays are systems put to limit the movement or progress of an individual or territory or even organization. Essentially Deliverance is about expressing the mandate of the triumphant Christ by adjuring subversive spirits to cease their wickedness or in extreme cases deliverance prayer strategically targeted to counter the effects and negates the hold and impact of subversive spirits over their victims. 

In other words, setback hinders men from reaching their God given destination. It hinders them from making full use of their God given potential. Likewise, setbacks are usually demonic, controlled by spiritual forces and until they are conquered there’s no going forward.

The periods of time being taken to overcome the setback is what is called delay. Because there can’t be a setback without delay. Once something is pulling you back, you will have to wait, pause and that is delay. You won’t be able to focus on the next project or move to the next thing. All your thinking will be on how to take away the setback hindering you so you can move forward 

Furthermore, once you are experiencing setbacks and delays the only way out of this demonic bondage is prayer of deliverance. Setback and delays have caused so many believers to lose their identity and inheritance in God, and causing premature deaths to many today.  Delays and setbacks bring shame, disgrace and disappointment. It is because a spirit is behind it and trying to oppose every good that comes or comes your way. But when deliverance is properly ministered it will bring tremendous benefit to the victim of this spiritual attack and yield glory and praise in God. 

We live in a wicked world where people are ready to go to the extreme to destroy ,kill and halt your progress. You can experience delays and setbacks in your  academics ,marriage, work, finance etc. If you want an all round breakthrough then you must be ready to do intense prayers. Don’t take life issues with levity, because what you don’t put a stop to will definitely stop you. 

Causes Of Delays And Setback 

There are several things that cause delay and setbacks. We will mention few today:-

1. Sin

If a believer engages in what you are not supposed to engage in. It may cause delays and setbacks. Stealing, backbiting, fornication etc. All of these cause delay and stagnation. Flee from all of this. 

2. Disobedience

Not yielding to the will of God can cause delay in the life of a child of God and until that person conforms to the will of God, he won’t move forward.

3. Unrepentant attitude 

The children of Israel spent 40 years on a journey that could have taken them 40days just because they didn’t repent of their old way of life. You too check your life now and repent from every unrepentant attitude.

4. Demonic powers

Yes, they are the real problem. Wicked people with demonic powers visiting principalities and forces of darkness to halt your progress. Intensive prayers can destroy them. 

5. Generational Curses 

Generational curses can also cause delays and setbacks. If you don’t go to the foundation to cut it off you may continue to rise and fall till it eventually takes away the life of the victim.  All of these and more are causes of delay and setbacks. 

How To Overcome Delay And Setback 

1. Go for deliverance 

There are some very stubborn courses and demonic covenant that only deliverance can cancel and break. When you engage in a sound deliverance  freedom is sure. 

2. Read the word of God. 

You need to read your Bible like there is no tomorrow, don’t be distracted by the devil or even the short ‘enjoyment ‘ of this world. It won’t last. But the word of God will. 

3. Prayer

Who told you prayer can not overcome delay and setback. You can pray. You can cancel and begin to claim all the promises of God for your life. Open your mouth and pray! 

4. Planning 

As a Christian, don’t just live your life anyhow. Plan your life. Know your limitations and how far you can go. Don’t just live like a man who doesn’t know where he’s going. Remember heaven is our focus. Live a life of holiness. Plan it out. 

5. Actions

When you plan, then remember to act on it. Put everything into the hands of God. And see Him working for your good.

2. Every bad effect of the spirit of delay over my life, be nullified by the blood of Jesus.
3. Every power prolonging my journey to breakthrough , be destroyed  in Jesus name.
4. Fire of the most high, consume every spirit of delays and setback in the name of Jesus
5. I break every evil covenants and curses of the spirit of delay over my life in Jesus name
6. Father, I pray against every spirit of delays and setback and stagnation . In the name of Jesus
7. I bind every strongman delegated to hinder my progress. I throw you into the sea.
8. Every demonic agent sent from the pit of hell to cause delay and setback for me and my family. Fall down and die, in the name of Jesus.
9. Every satanic power controlling my finance causes me not to enjoy the fruit of my labor die by fire, in the name of Jesus. 
10. Any curse operating in my life causing marital delay for me. Receive the consuming Fire of the Holy Ghost and somersault and die! 
11. I stand and reject every demonic manipulations in all areas of my life. In the name of Jesus 
12. Every enchantment from the enemies to cause delay and setback for me in all areas, I render you useless in the name of Jesus 
13. I pray against every divination organized by the devil and his cohorts against my life, die, In the name of Jesus 
14. Anybody born of a woman who has hindered my blessing, I command you now in the name of Jesus, begin to release my blessings by the power of God. 
15. Lord Jesus begin to bring favor into my life right now in the name of Jesus 
16. I break every Barrier that is blocking me from being close to my breakthrough in the name of Jesus 
17. I break by fire, every  satanic calabash that have been used to exchange my favor for frustration, in the name of Jesus.
