Introduction
The importance of daily prayer in the life of Christian can never be overemphasized. So many Christians feel that prayer should be done momentarily or once in a while, they have not come to see the importance of daily prayers in their lives. It is even more painful that the only time some Christians remember to pray is when they face any danger or need God to provide them with something. It then means that as long as their day is going well, they have no need for daily prayer. God frowns at this type of life, it is the will of God that you communicate with him on a daily basis and not when you only need him to save you from danger.
Where we read in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 re-emphasized the fact God wants us to be happy and rejoice continually, pray unceasingly and always give God thanks.Â

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
God wants us to pray at all times, everyday, on every occasion, He wants us to stay alert and persist in prayer for all believers everywhere. If therefore you number the moments you pray as a christian, you may be bridging the gap to where God wants you to be and what he wants you to know and to do.
What Is Prayer?
The Hebrew word for prayer is Tefillah. /Te-feel-ah/ This means in the Hebrew word “Executing Judgement”. However for the layman understanding let’s define prayer as a spiritual communication between a man and his God. Prayer is a two way communication; A man communes with his God and his God replies him in ways best to him. It is through prayer that christians commune with God, make their requests known to Him and intercede for others. It is time to start praying to the people of God. God is waiting for us on the altars of prayers, He wants us to come boldly unto his throne with prayer so that we may obtain mercy.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Why You Are Not Praying Daily
So many Christians do not have a daily prayer life because they feel they can do without prayers. They think they can solve their own problems, they wonder why they should pray when they have the means to solve their problems. This is to say that one of the reasons why some Christians don’t pray daily is because they are proud and feel that they do not need God in their daily activities. Some of them make excuses and say ‘God understands, He is a loving father, he will always guide and protect me whether I pray or not’. In as much as God preserves His own on a daily basis, however if you don’t remember to pray to him daily, it means you are saying ‘God I can do without you today’ and it is pride.
Prayer is humility because when we pray, we are saying that God knows what is better for us, He is strong and mighty and we therefore rely daily on him. Praying daily is saying ‘God help me’ and there has never been any man who called on God for help that He ignores.
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then she came and worshiped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Reasons Why You Must Pray Daily
God wants you to commune with him everyday of your life, He wants to be a part of your daily activities, He knows all you do but He wants to hear you mention them to him in your daily prayers. There are so many reasons why you must not fail to make daily prayers to God. The following are some of the reasons.
 Daily Prayer Helps You Control Your Daily Activities Spiritually
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

From the above verses of the scripture, the bible made us understand that the earth is natural but that God is spirit; I mean that a spiritual being created something natural. The physical world was created by the spiritual world. Everything physical is controlled by the spiritual and it would be a huge error for a christian not to take charge of his or her physical daily life in the spiritual everyday. So one of the reasons why you must pray daily is so that you have an upper hand on your physical daily activities, so that nothing happens to you unaware at any moment of your life.
 Daily Prayer Is An Act of Service
Service is the act of helping someone or supplying a need for someone. Daily prayer is important because it helps you intercede for others on a daily basis. There are people around you who are encountering challenges that are threatening their lives, you can step in and help them by praying for them daily.
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

 Daily Prayer Helps Unravel Deep Things That We Don’t Know About Our Day
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

There are so many secrets that God wants to show us about our daily lives that we miss because we don’t go to him in prayer daily. He is asking us to call on him daily, that there are great and secret things we don’t know that He wishes to show us. He can’t show us these things if we do not humble ourselves and come to Him in prayer always.
 Daily Prayer Helps Us Make Our Requests To God on Daily Basis
You want things, but you cannot have them, so you are ready to kill; you strongly desire things, but you cannot get them, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have what you want because you do not ask God for it.
James 4:2 GNTD
So many Christians prefer to get something by hook or by crook when there is a better way they could get it; asking God for it. God wants to give us what we desire of him, but he wants us to remove our mind from lusting after them, when we list after them, we can kill, quarrel and fight to have them and yet we don’t get them. When we come to God in prayer and ask him for those things we can’t get on our own, He grants our requests because He is a merciful father.
Daily Prayer Helps Us Gain Spiritual Wisdom
I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.

Spiritual wisdom can’t be overemphasized, it helps us to be able to discern appropriately so that we are not deceived in this world where there are so many people who take on the form of God but deny the power thereof. Spiritual wisdom helps you to be able to know more about the things of God, the more you know, the better prepared you are. The more you know, the more qualified you are to teach spiritual things. All these can be gotten from a place of unceasing prayer to God.
 Summary
God wants us and his children to always connect to him in prayers, He has a lot He wants to show us, a lot He wants to reveal to us but we are not coming closer to him in prayer. Prayer is a form of fellowship with God, through prayer we speak to God and make our requests known to Him. Today endeavors to cultivate a life of prayer for it is the will of God for our lives.

Father in the mighty name of Jesus, I have heard your word on the importance of daily prayers in my life. I pray that you help me today not to depend on my own understanding but to always come to you in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving and make my requests known to you. Help me to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
